► Volubilis – The Lost Roman City
Imagine wandering through ancient olive groves where marble columns rise like forgotten giants and colorful mosaics tell stories under your feet. Volubilis was once a bustling Roman city full of life and secrets. Walk the main Roman street, the Decumanus Maximus, and explore the stunning mosaics in the House of Orpheus and the Baths of Gallienus. You will learn how Morocco was once part of the Roman Empire and why the Romans finally packed up and left. Locals like to say that if you listen closely at night you can hear the ancient Romans arguing over who forgot to water the olive trees. Guess even emperors had bad days. Either way it is a place full of mystery and wonder
► Moulay Idriss Zerhoun – Morocco’s Sacred Town
A short drive from Volubilis, the small town of Moulay Idriss sits on two hills. It is named after the great-grandson of the Prophet Muhammad and the founder of Morocco’s first Islamic dynasty. Walking through its quiet whitewashed streets feels peaceful and calm. You can see Morocco’s only round minaret, known by locals as the “eye of the town.” While non-Muslims cannot enter the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss, you can visit it from outside. Stop for some mint tea or lunch with beautiful views of the valley. According to local tradition, visiting Moulay Idriss six times is like making one pilgrimage to Mecca. Whether you believe this or not, the peaceful feeling here stays with you.
